Reporting to the Global Commercial Operations Director, Commercial Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial success of the organization by effectively managing margin control, contract compliance, RFP/RFI and pricing strategies for the company’s Malaysia business.
Leadership:
- Lead and develop a high performing team of Internal Account Managers and Bid Specialists.
- Implement Commercial strategy collaborating with the Global Commercial Operations Director.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with multiple and cross-functional project teams.
Margin Management and Control:
- Implement controls and measures to maintain and optimize gross margins across all product lines within the factory, while meeting quality standards.
- Analyze and report on gross margin performance, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor and analyze cost structures to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
Contract and SLA Adherence:
- Participate in the development, negotiation, and execution of contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and identify opportunities to enhance contract terms.
- Track and record all non-adherence recovery elements.
Estimating, Costing, and Pricing:
- Lead the estimating and costing processes for the Malaysia factory to provide competitive pricing for products and services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop pricing strategies that align with market trends and company goals.
- Work closely with sales teams to develop customized commercial proposals that drive revenue growth.
Cost Recovery and Price Increase Implementation:
- Execute programs to recover costs and implement price increases in response to market dynamics.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to communicate pricing changes effectively to clients.
The Person
- Proven experience in commercial management roles within the contract manufacturing industry, specifically in Pharmaceutical, Med Tech, Medical Device, Ortho, or Drug Delivery markets.
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management abilities.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Should be creative in generating new business opportunities, including new partnerships and supplier relationships to maximize growth opportunities.
- Self-motivated team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and client requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.
- MBA is desirable.
- Highly proficient in data analytics & Excel.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, CRM software, and bid management tools.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, QAD) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of contract manufacturing processes, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements within the orthopedic, pharmaceutical, or medical device sectors.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Advanced English in speaking and writing.
Location:
The role is Hybrid with a minimum of 3 days on site at the SteriPack Malaysia site.
